FEB in Indonesia
![]() |
Within days of the massive earthquake in Padang, Indonesia, FEB’s First Response team was there. The five-member team carried a suitcase studio with transmitter, antenna, 20 shortwave radios and a generator. The team leader immediately met with the national disaster coordinating agency who directed them to the most urgent need for radio, which was 48 km from Padang. The First Response leader said, “I was overwhelmed by how our team was so well received and supported at the very highest levels – God is truly in this.” The next day a second team arrived with another 100 radios and batteries for distribution to people in the area. |
The local disaster coordinators were grateful to receive and distribute the whole stock of portable radios from the FEBC International Office. FEBC USA supporters then gave a further 1,000 radios for distribution to the survivors.
VoF NZ sent FEB Indonesia NZ$9,000. FEB worked with World Vision, and together radio programs were broadcast about shelter, health education and procuring safe water.
Thank you to all our supporters who have given to supply portable radios. They are essential when our transportable broadcast facilities are mobilised.
Praise God for the trained team who went immediately to the devastated area. This service may be necessary for anything from weeks to months.
Relationships built in times of trouble can gain the trust of people who will often become listeners to our programs which bring a message of hope in Jesus Christ.
