FEBC-NZ Radio International Incorporated is a Christian mission organisation that has over 30 years experience operating in New Zealand and overseas. It supports people and services in the creation and broadcasting of the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ along with more general community formation programmes which reflect a Christian world-view and encouragement to the hard to reach parts of the world.
FEB New Zealand is looking for an Executive Director to lead, manage and oversee the
operations of FEB in New Zealand, and the various support and advisory groups of people that assist FEB in achieving its support objectives.

This full time position reports to the New Zealand FEB Board, and the incumbent is an active
member of the senior leadership team.

This is a new position, and is based close to the Central Waikato and/or Bay of Plenty areas.

JOB DESCRIPTION (Draft)

FEBC-NZ Radio International Incorporated

Purpose for the position

To be responsible for all matters associated with leading, directing, managing, and supporting the operations and the ministry of FEBC-NZ Radio International Incorporated in New Zealand.

To manage and oversee the various support and advisory people/groups established for assisting FEBC NZ in achieving its purposes both in New Zealand and overseas, and to maintain its reputation and good standing.

To build a healthy, happy, effective and growing New Zealand support operation for FEBC and FEBA world-wide.

This full time position reports directly to the FEB Board in New Zealand. As a leadership position in the Christian community of NZ, it will call for the incumbent to be highly visible inside and outside FEB and an active member of the FEB Board.

Key Activities

  • To lead and direct all matters associated with the financial, administrative and support functions and processes within the organisation.

  • To provide leadership and vision for FEB NZ.

  • To be aware of plans and activities of key supporting ministries and organisations, and how they fit into the broader framework of FEB’s ministry objectives.

  • To raise funds through building long term relationships.

  • To be responsible for all fund raising activities and outcomes, and advise best practice and approaches to FEB in this regard.

  • To maintain and be responsible for managing own priorities as determined by the needs of the organisation and the overall role required of this position.

  • To endeavour to bring a strong spiritual influence to the position.

  • To establish and oversee the financial advisory and human resources advisory capabilities necessary to maintain currency and integrity through the application of wise and appropriate expert external advice and counsel.

  • To be the main link between FEB and the donor/supporter community, trusts, and key church groups.

  • To establish and then oversee FEB staff activities and to ensure effective two-way communication occurs between the FEB leadership and the staff members themselves.

  • To be responsible for establishing the strategic direction and operational objectives of FEB in association with key supporting groups and external resources as appropriate.

  • To manage any Property and Facilities portfolio for FEB NZ if applicable and as appropriate.

  • To act at all times with the highest integrity in all matters.

  • To attend overseas meetings from time to time as required.

Personnel

  • To recommend to FEB NZ, gain approval for, and then recruit appropriate volunteer and paid staff to enable FEB NZ to function effectively.

  • To supervise staff and volunteers under the direct control of this position.

  • To ensure appropriate Human Resources and Employee Relations management and support processes are in place and working effectively, and are in line with practices that are normally associated with those of a good employer in the community.

Personal

  • To have overall responsibility within FEB for ensuring that appropriate spiritual outcomes are achieved to the glory of God, and that the reputation of FEB in the community is upheld at all times.

  • To commit to the overall aims and values of FEB, and to demonstrate these in life-style and modus operandi.

  • To operate as a senior member of the leadership team.

  • To invest in one’s own spiritual growth and development.

Overall

This Position Description is a working document and may be enhanced from time to time as required by the leadership of FEB NZ in accordance with the needs of the organisation. Any changes will be made only after consultation with the incumbent.

  • A self-starter, with the ability to direct one’s own efforts towards effective outcomes

  • Experienced in financial management, planning and controls, and running a small office

  • Has management skills and experience, including employee relations

  • Is a team player

  • Able to commit to living out Christian values

  • Is spiritually sound

  • Has a track record of respectability and high integrity.

Suggested KPI’s (To be agreed by the incumbent and FEB Board within 6 weeks of appointment)

  1. To grow the financial base and health of FEB NZ over the next 5 years ($300-500K)

  1. To advance the image and reputation of FEB in New Zealand

  1. To significantly lower the average age of key donors/financial supporters over the next 4 years or earlier

  1. To meet or exceed budget guidelines/targets annually

  1. Timely and appropriate reporting to the FEB Board
